IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Immediately after arrival at Moscow State University, foreign citizens must apply documents for migration registration.
Attention to foreign citizens of the countries of visa entry!
All foreign citizens, who are planning to stay in Russia for more than 90 consecutive days are required to pass fingerprint registration within 90 days from the date of entry (or within 30 days if the purpose of arrival is for work)
Foreign citizens, who arrived in Russia before December 29, 2021, must pass fingerprint registration no later than January 2023.
Foreign citizens must pass a medical examination in medical institutions according to the list approved by the Moscow government before passing fingerprint registration.

Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, all the documents for visa extension WILL BE ACCEPTED NO LATER THAN 20 WORKING DAYS BEFORE THE END OF THE VALIDITY PERIOD OF THE PREVIOUS VISA.
If a foreign citizen does not have a new visa at the end of the current visa, he is obliged to leave Russia before the end of the validity period of the old visa.
In this regard, foreign department asks foreign students to apply for a visa extension 35 days before the expiration for the current visa.
Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation №907 dated December 4, 2019 “On Approval of the Administrative Regulations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on the provision of Public Services for the Registration, Issuance, Extension and Restoration of Visas for Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons”
27. In case of extension of an ordinary working visa or an ordinary education visa, in addition to the documents specified in paragraphs 24 and 26 of the Administrative Regulations, the organization in which the foreign citizen works or studies shall submit an employment contract or a civil law contract or a document confirming the education status of the foreign citizen, respectively.
Documents for the extension of an ordinary working or education visa must be submitted for consideration no later than twenty working days before the expiration of the existing visa.
If there is a documented valid reason (illness, loss of a foreign citizen's identity document, the validity period of the visa upon entry into the Russian Federation is less than the period stipulated for its extension, and other valid reasons), documents for visa extension must be submitted no later than the visas’ expiration date.
Required documents for visa extension:
1. registration
2. two 3x4 photos
3. passport
4. migration card
5. valid medical inspection cards (red, green and blue one)
6. fingerprints (green card)
7. 1920 rubles state duty fee (using Sberbank/Sberbol Online)

ATTENTION TO FOREIGN STUDENTS!
WHEN YOU RECEIVE A PASSPORT WITH A NEW VISA:
— make sure that your name on visa is spelled correctly,
— check the validity period of the new visa
— check the validity period of the new registration

After migration registration, foreign citizens receive a notification stub (a tear-off part of the notification), which indicates the duration of stay in Russia.
* Initial registration for migration for the CIS citizens (after entering the Russian Federation) is made for a period not exceeding 90 calendar days with the possibility of a subsequent extension of stay in Russian Federation (for a period of 1 year).
After migration registration, foreign citizens receive a notification stub (a tear-off part of the notification), which indicates the duration of stay in Russia.
* Initial registration for migration for the CIS citizens (after entering the Russian Federation) is made for a period not exceeding 90 calendar days with the possibility of a subsequent extension of stay in Russian Federation (for a period of 1 year).
