From October 17 to 18, 2024, the BRICS Universities Rectors Forum took place at Lomonosov Moscow State University. The Forum was organized by Russian Rectors' Union with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of Russia. More than 200 universities and research organizations from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia gathered at the Forum venues. This international event aimed at exchanging experiences among rectors of higher education institutions from BRICS countries was held for the first time. The Forum agenda was determined by current objectives related to the development of research and educational cooperation in the new global conditions, transitioning to fair university ranking and finding solutions to new global challenges in science and higher education. On October 18, 2024, a special Session of the Forum organized by the BRICS Network of Educational Centers and Scientific Think Tanks (Consortium) was held at the Faculty of Global Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The session focused on the report prepared for the XVI BRICS Summit, which is in the format of a monograph edited by the MSU Rector, Academician Viktor A. Sadovnichy. The report "BRICS Development in the Context of World Dynamics: Challenges and Perspectives" was presented by Professor I.V. Ilyin, Dean of the Faculty of Global Studies. The authors of the monograph, based on mathematical modeling, demonstrate that coordinated actions by BRICS countries can lead to sustainable development of civilizations. The report expands on the ideas presented in the Report to the Rome Club titled "Reconsidering the Limits to Growth," prepared with the involvement of the Faculty's scholars and published by Springer. |
